The American Network of Localised Agrifood Systems, SIAL Network, the Universidad Austral de Chile, the Universidad San Sebastián and the Universidad Católica del Maule invite you to participate in the 10th International Congress on Localised Agrifood Systems (SIAL), to be held in the city of Valdivia, Chile on 13, 14 and 15 November 2024. The Congress will take place at the Isla Teja Campus of the Universidad Austral de Chile and at the Valdivia campus of the Universidad San Sebastián.
In a context of notable transformations associated with global environmental change, in particular the climate crisis at the planetary level, and in a regional, Chilean and Latin American scenario, marked by the complexity of social, political-economic and intercultural dynamics that result in tensions and conflicts of various kinds and natures, Agri-food systems, at all scales, are challenged by circumstances and multiple challenges, where uncertainty, adversity, but also resilience, creativity and opportunities to innovate, reformulate practices, dynamics and institutions mean persisting in alternative models to build new forms of food prosperity.
The 10th International Congress on Localised Agrifood Systems will place us in a space for reflection, analysis and perspectives for transformative action where the intercultural approach, in a broad sense, implies the possibility of visualising alternative models, innovating, rethinking conventional models and imagining new scenarios where food production, exchange, circulation and consumption occur in food governance frameworks that incorporate territorial and economic-cultural dynamics.
