Origo. 2017, Geographical Indications’ Global Forum

On April 11th to 13th, AREPO will participate in the first edition of Origo – Geographical Indications’ Global Forum that will be held in Parma at the Exhibition Centre.

Origo is the first European and international event for the promotion of quality agro-food products worldwide. It is organised by the Italian Government and the Emilia Romagna Region, in partnership with the European Commission, Parma Industrialists’ Association and the Parma Exhibition Centre.

The event was created from the need to raise a new and stronger awareness of the strategic value of our quality products both within the European context and in the international markets.

We face many global challenges that need to be addressed properly by all producers and EU experts in order to combine efforts and create new ways to promote cultural and economic relations.

The event will be divided in two parts. On April 11th, an EU International Conference will involve participants in the discussion of several different issues regarding Geographical Indications, organised in 4 different sessions:

  1. The role of GIs in European Policy
  2. GIs: are they a model of sustainability?
  3. GIs, jobs and resilience: evidence and issues
  4. GIs around the world: the European model is becoming global?

On April 12th and 13th, the congress attendees will have the possibility to participate in B2B meeting in Origo Business Lounge especially dedicated to consortia and GIs producers. In this space they can meet top buyers visiting CibusConnect 2017, a new format event presenting spectacular and multifunctional areas featuring cooking shows, forming the backdrop to workshops dedicated to Food & Retail current issues.
